Trusted Hardwood Installation Near You
Can you guess what’s the best investment one can make in an effort to improve a house?
Well, by being on this page, you likely already know – it’s hardwood flooring installation.
Hardwood flooring not only boosts home value but also improves health indoors, making it a much better option than carpet or other types of flooring.
Airborne illnesses cost US citizens over $17 billion per year[1]. These come from allergens and other pathogens that carpets DO harbor while hardwood floors DON’T.
If you’re looking for a flooring solution that lasts long and positively affects both your health and wealth, then our hardwood floor installation service is perfect for your needs.
Why Hardwood Flooring is Better than Carpets
Longer Lifespan
Carpets can sometimes last only 5 to 7 years, while hardwood flooring can last for decades.
Much Healthier
Not only that, but, as we’ve mentioned, hardwood flooring does not harbor mold, mildew, pollen, dust, microbes, and other pathogens that carpet easily does[1].
This drastically improves indoor air quality and the quality of life inside your home. Remember, there is a reason carpets require a deep clean every year.
Easier Maintenance
Yes, hardwood flooring can cost more to install, but these costs are worth it in the long run.
Hardwood flooring does not require a deep cleanup once or twice a year, like carpets.
Plus, when you add the price of all the new carpets you’ll need to get every 5-7 years, the costs end up being worth it because during that time, you’d still have that same hardwood floor.
Hardwood Flooring vs Laminate Flooring
More Durable
Laminate flooring lasts less than hardwood. Of course, laminate costs less to install, but with its maximum lifespan of 15 years, the money you’d initially save would be spent on new flooring, whereas if you went with hardwood, you’d not have that struggle.
Better Return on Investment
Additionally, laminate flooring doesn’t result in as much of a home value increase as hardwood flooring does.
Over half of home buyers are willing to pay more for a house with hardwood flooring[2]. Additionally, the top request for home buyers and renters is hardwood flooring, not laminate[3].
And lastly, according to another study, hardwood flooring installation provides an 118% return on investment[4].
Hardwood Provides More Comfort
Hardwood floors provide more comfort and absorb sound, making them perfect for homes with more people and movement.
It also requires less maintenance.
Where Laminate Flooring Wins Only
Hardwood flooring is not as water-resistant, though, being made from porous wood.
Laminate flooring contains resin, which is not as porous, but that doesn’t mean laminate is 100% waterproof; it can still experience water damage.
In the end, hardwood flooring is clearly a better option for savvy homeowners looking for the best bang for their bucks.
How We Install Hardwood Floors
Prep Work
We start by measuring your space and jotting down the room’s dimensions. Then we'll calculate how much hardwood you’ll need, and add a little extra—about 10%—to cover mistakes and odd cuts.
Underlayment
We'll roll out an underlayment if your floor needs it. This is buffer zone between your subfloor and the hardwood planks. It’s usually made of foam, rubber, or felt.
Planning a Layout
We'll draw a chalk line to mark where your first row will go. Typically, we start along the longest wall. We'll then lay out a few planks without attaching them to see how they fit and make sure you’re happy with the layout.
Hardwood Installation
We'll install the first row and then nail, staple, or glue it down. After, we'll continue laying rows, making sure to stagger the joints, and then we'll cut the last plank to fit. This is repeated until the entire floor is covered.
Final Touches
After we’ve laid the final plank, our team will take out all the spacers around the room. They'll install or reinstall your baseboards and molding to cover the expansion gap around the edges. Once that's done, we'll clean everything up and the project is complete.
